MEMORY OF THE ATELIER
Every atelier changes over time, yet its essence remains.
This section captures the environments in which the first works were created — early workshops, tools, unfinished movements, and the details of handcraft.
These are quiet traces of a process that cannot be rushed.
Parents' House
1995–2002
The first workshop was created at his parents' home.
It was a simple workbench where Luděk Seryn learned the craft of watchmaking.
The work consisted mainly of repairing watches for friends, neighbors, and the first local clients.
It was here that the foundation of his relationship with mechanics was formed — careful disassembly, understanding the construction, and reassembly.
This small domestic workshop became the place where the decision was made to fully devote himself to watchmaking.
Nádražní, Mohelnice
2002–2011
The next atelier was established in Mohelnice, in the premises of a municipal residential building on Nádražní Street.
The workshop was built from former pram storage rooms and gradually transformed into a fully equipped watchmaking and goldsmithing operation.
This is where the business began, focused on the repair of clocks, watches, and jewelry for the public, as well as custom jewelry production.
It was in this workshop that the first Atelier LS watches were created — the Rectangular, Classic Round, and Nolanus models.
Over time, the space expanded into an adjacent room to accommodate the growing volume of work.
Toward the end of this period, the workshop was reduced again as the focus shifted primarily to the development of in-house watches.
Kovárna, Mohelnice
2011–2015
In 2011, the atelier moved to a new multifunctional building, Kovárna, in Mohelnice.
The space was designed as a representative workshop.
The furniture was custom-made, and the watchmaking workspace was designed by Luděk Seryn to ergonomically connect several workstations.
In this atelier, the Carabus and Imperator watches were created, along with the Skeleton Round and Tonneau models.
The Kovárna period represents a moment when the work of the atelier became strongly focused on the construction of in-house mechanical watches.
Náměstí Míru, Prague
2015–2023
At the beginning of 2015, the atelier moved to Prague.
The workshop was established in a duplex apartment at Náměstí Míru, where the workspace was connected with everyday living.
During this period, the Skeleton Lady, Karel Rotation, Jitka Rotation, and RO-18 models were created.
The atelier had an intimate character and was ideal for focused construction work.
Over time, however, it no longer allowed for further development and expansion of the working space.
Motol, Prague
2023–present
The current atelier is located in Prague, in Motol.
The space is designed primarily for the construction, development, and hand-finishing of mechanical watches.
The work is still created under the direction of Luděk Seryn, but the atelier has gradually expanded to include a small team of collaborators who contribute to individual stages of production.
Alongside construction work developed in a digital environment, the atelier also carries out the production of small mechanical components, hand-finishing of surfaces, and the assembly of selected models.
The assembly of Simplex collection watches takes place in the atelier in collaboration with a watchmaker, while the more technically demanding models of the Mechanica line continue to be assembled personally by Luděk Seryn.
In this atelier, the Adam Rotation model was created, and the Carabus project was revived in the form of the Art Deco collection.
The current space represents another step in the evolution of the work — a place where traditional craftsmanship gradually merges with modern construction.
Each place has left its mark on the work.
